CBD Oil and CBD in general is now emerging as a hot trend in skin care & body care products. But is there any real benefit to this or is it just purely a myth? Here are some of the cold-hard CBD facts you need to know.
Cannabidiol (aka CBD) is the non-psychoactive component of marijuana or hemp plants. CBD is a fine, white crystalline powder once extracted, and is usually mixed with a carrier oil, all of which enhance efficacy and application, hence the name “CBD oil”.
Skin products containing CBD oil won’t get you intoxicated because it doesn’t have the psychoactive properties of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content. It’s extracted from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant, where the THC content is less than 0.3%, making it virtually non-existent.
It’s important to realize that CBD oil is not the same as hemp seed oil, which is also used for skin care. These two things are often marketed interchangeably, but CBD oil is richly concentrated in cannabidiol, whereas hemp seed oil only contains trace amounts of the healing compound known as CBD.
